Bonding commonly refers to the modern tooth-colored fillings and replacements glued to the natural teeth. Even though there are many types of materials that the dentist employs to achieve the final restoration, the patient goes home happy because the filling is largely undetectable by untrained eyes. Since the filling is permanently glued to the natural tooth, the term bonding becomes appropriate.
Bonding is a conservative way to repair slightly chipped, cracked, discolored, or misarranged. Tooth bonding can also be used for teeth fillings instead of amalgam fillings.
